Health projects are indispensable to humanitarian aid, as they address fundamental human needs and enhance overall well-being. Access to quality healthcare is not just a necessity; it is a fundamental human right. During crises, health projects play a critical role in providing emergency care, preventing disease outbreaks, meeting essential health needs, and rebuilding communities from the ground up.
The global challenge of inadequate healthcare is one of the most pressing issues of our time. In developing countries and crisis zones, vast portions of the population lack even basic healthcare services. The absence of sufficient food, clean water, and protection from extreme weather conditions exacerbates poor health, making people even more susceptible to disease. Recognizing these dire health and hygiene conditions, the Hungary Helps Program is deeply committed to improving healthcare facilities and services in the most affected regions.
Africa faces the most significant health challenges globally, primarily due to widespread infectious diseases, poor water quality, and a lack of healthcare infrastructure, particularly in rural areas. The Middle East presents a complex health landscape; while some areas boast advanced healthcare facilities, ongoing armed conflict and political instability strain health systems across the region.
Our health projects are therefore strategically concentrated in the Middle East and Africa. Over the past 7 years, we have undertaken more than 80 projects, ranging from the distribution of essential pharmaceuticals to the construction of large-scale hospitals. Our support often extends beyond healthcare, intertwining with efforts to advance education and empower women, creating a holistic approach to community development and resilience.

“More than 388 million Christians worldwide are persecuted because of their faith in Jesus Christ,” writes Open Doors in its 2026 report.

Each year, Open Doors publishes the World Watch List, ranking the 50 countries where practicing the Christian faith is most dangerous. The latest 2026 list paints a shocking and sobering picture: persecution of Christians is becoming increasingly brutal year by year across the globe.
