Establishing a youth counselling centre for disadvantaged youth in Ethiopia
Addressing the situation of young people in Africa's fast-growing societies is a key issue for sustainability, especially in terms of education, training, mobility and integration into the labour market. To this end, we are supporting the Ethiopian Catholic Church's Youth Project, which aims to establish a 50-person national youth training and counselling centre in Addis Ababa, on the campus of the Ethiopian Catholic University. With the help of external experts, the Youth Centre carries out social activities aimed at reducing the emigration rate of young people and helping them to integrate into society and start an independent life. The centre provides psychological support, educational and career counselling to young women from disadvantaged, traumatised or displaced backgrounds, helping them to build relationships, integrate or reintegrate into society, find employment or start their own businesses.
