Tamale, a city in northern Ghana with a population nearing one million, serves as the region’s educational hub. As one of the fastest-growing cities in West Africa, Tamale faces significant challenges due to the strain on its infrastructure. To help address this issue, the Africa Anotherway Foundation has received support to construct a new, permanent building for the GiFAM school in Tamale. Founded in 2000, GiFAM school plays a crucial role in meeting the rapidly increasing educational demands of the city. Its mission is to provide quality education to children from communities increasingly marginalized by rapid population growth, particularly those living in deep urban poverty, as well as other disadvantaged and special needs groups. Thanks to the high-quality education offered at GiFAM, many students go on to find employment in the public sector or continue their studies at higher educational institutions. The school offers a comprehensive, multi-grade education for children aged 2 to 18, ensuring a structured and long-term educational path. The project’s primary goal is to create a modern and safe learning environment, which will support the educational needs of the growing population and contribute to the city's broader development. By building this new facility, the initiative aims to resolve the challenges currently posed by overcrowded and deteriorating school infrastructure, offering a brighter future for the students of Tamale.
