UN Assistant Secretary-General Susan Brown Visits Hungary Helps Agency
Susan Brown, UN Assistant Secretary-General (ASG) and Director of the UNDP Office of External Relations and Advocacy, visited the Hungary Helps Agency on September 3, 2026. She was welcomed by Dr. Melinda Gitta Szeles, Deputy Director General of the Hungary Helps Agency.
The meeting brought together members of the UNDP delegation, representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs responsible for international development cooperation, representatives of the Hungary Helps Programme, and the Hungary Helps Agency.
Discussions focused on international development cooperation, the work and development portfolio of the Hungary Helps Agency, and potential areas for future partnership.
During the meeting, the Hungary Helps Agency presented the key areas of its international development activities, the principles underpinning its work, and its approach to delivering programmes in partner countries. The parties also explored areas where the expertise, international networks, and development activities of Hungary Helps and the UNDP could complement one another and provide a basis for future cooperation.
The discussions highlighted the importance of strong international partnerships and professional cooperation. Addressing global development challenges effectively requires close collaboration between national and international development actors, particularly when it comes to strengthening local communities and achieving sustainable, long-term results.
Susan Brown’s visit to Hungary aimed to strengthen professional dialogue with Hungarian partners involved in international development policy and to advance opportunities for future cooperation. Her meeting at the Hungary Helps Agency provided a valuable opportunity to exchange perspectives and explore potential areas for closer cooperation between the two organisations.
