On September 27, 2023, Hungary Helps Agency. signed a partnership agreement with Hungarian Water Partnership (HWP), which brings together Hungarian-owned water industry actors, at the Planet Budapest 2023 sustainability expo and experience program at the Hungexpo Budapest Convention and Exhibition Center.
At the event, Tristan Azbej, the State Secretary for the aid of persecuted Christians of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, highlighted that although the professional missions of the two organizations are different, the fact that we turn to the people suffering in the world’s crisis zones with the intention of helping, we bring help to the place and enable the possibility of staying in place is a common point of connection between the organizations. According to Károly Kovács, the president of the HWP, it is also important to bring help to people in need, whether it is about the lack of water resources, the support of conserving irrigation water, the cleaning of waste water, polluted water or the utilization of rainwater. He emphasized that HWP’s professional mission is to help with Hungarian water industry solutions where there is a problem, and at the same time to stimulate the innovation initiatives of industry players. Finally, Péter Kovács, CEO of Hungary Helps Agency, emphasized that currently more than 2 billion people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water, and forecasts show that by 2050 this number may increase to more than 5 billion, so 3 billion people he will live in climatic conditions where other conditions of life will not be given. If the problem is not dealt with, the people living there will leave their place of residence and seek their prosperity in Europe. In conclusion, he said that with the cooperation of the Hungary Helps Program and the Hungarian Water Partnership, the two organizations will jointly deliver the aid.
