On August 26, 2024, CREATResili project’s Summer University, titled Social Design Summer University, officially commenced with a ceremony. This initiative aims to empower participants with social design tools to support abused and marginalized women in Kosovo.
The twelve selected participants were welcomed by representatives from Hungary Helps Agency, Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design (MOME), the Jahjaga Foundation, Gjirafa e-commerce company, and the Pro Progressione artistic hub. Péter Kovács, Director General of the Hungary Helps Agency, also delivered his remarks to the group, stating:
“In today’s world, where we face countless challenges, the power of art is crucial in driving positive social change.”
Hungary Helps Agency leads the consortium of CREATResili project, which is funded by the Creative Europe program. The initiative seeks to leverage creativity to support the resilience of vulnerable and fragile communities, particularly women who have experienced abuse.
Throughout the week, participants will dive deep into the methodologies and practical applications of social design. The program’s objective is to equip them with the skills to independently initiate projects and develop innovative solutions to address pressing social issues.
The summer university will culminate in presentations and evaluations. Three outstanding participants will be selected for an opportunity to apply their newly acquired skills in Kosovo this fall, providing direct assistance to abused women.
This project is of vital importance, ensuring long-term sustainable development for both the participants and the communities they support. It stands as a testament to the power of social design—not only as a creative process but also as a potent tool for fostering meaningful social transformation.
