„Building Peace – Protecting Cultural Heritage – Christian Communities” is the title of an international conference organised by Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Secretariat of State for the Aid of Persecuted Christians. Among other topics, the conference will discuss the protection of cultural heritage, the situation of Christian communities and the importance and relevance of peace-building.The event will take place on 22 November 2023 at the UNESCO World Heritage Site Várkert Bazár in Budapest.
The high-profile event will prepare the ground for the Hungarian EU Presidency in 2024, with a new presentation of the Hungary Helps Programme activities. It will also showcase Hungary Helps Programme heritage protection activities, which contribute to peace and stability and to strengthening the identity of local communities, especially Christian communities, and join the Red Wednesday campaign, an awareness-raising and solidarity action for persecuted Christians, by illuminating emblematic sites in the Buda Castle district in red.
The conference joins the Hungarian National Museum’s conference on „Heritage Protection in Crisis Situations”, both in terms of theme and timing.
