The natural disaster claimed dozens of lives, displaced 390,000 people, damaged 44,000 residential buildings, completely destroyed the homes of thousands of families, and still has no power supply in more than 150 settlements.
The basic principle of the Hungary Helps Program is that help should be taken where the trouble is, not the trouble be brought here. Therefore, the Government of Hungary provided HUF 7.5 million in support to the victims with the help of the Caritas Manila, which is active in the areas most affected by the disaster, contributed.
Hungarian assistance will alleviate the immediate consequences of the super-typhoon and promote the effective management of long-term effects, as well as contribute to the prevention of migration, which is potentially intensified as a result of a natural disaster and poses a health threat due to the epidemic.
